Creating a sound
From silence to your own sound
Eight sounds built step by step from the Editor Template: the start, a warm pad, a bass, a lead with vibrato, brass, a pluck, ensemble strings, and a checklist for a sound of your own.
Every lesson builds one classic sound from the same start, 2046 Editor Template, a change at a time: an oscillator, a filter, the envelopes, the movement, the playing and the effects. Each step is a whole program, and you hear it: the phrase plays on that step, BEFORE plays the step before, and the keyboard plays it live.
The sound comes from the programs themselves: each step's program played in your browser by KINSPIRATION's engine, oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs and effects, as the K2700 runs them. The How To at the end of each lesson does the same steps on your K2700.
From the template to a sound.
Each lesson is one sound, step by step: hear each step against the one before, see the K2700's page, and then build it on your K2700.
Every sound here starts from the same program: 2046 Editor Template.
324 oscillator layers play 999 SilenceLESSON 2A warm padPadA pad is a held chord that breathes.
114 Pad programs, a median attack of 0.04 sLESSON 3A bassBassA synth bass wants weight, a fast filter snap and one note at a time.
939 layers read another through Alt InputLESSON 4A lead with vibratoLeadA lead plays one line on top.
683 oscillators take LFO1 on their pitchLESSON 5BrassBrassSynth brass is the filter's sound: closed when the note starts, opening as it swells, settling as it holds.
796 filters opened by ENV2LESSON 6A pluckPluckA pluck dies away by itself: no sustain, a filter that snaps shut, and an echo to fill the space between the notes.
339 oscillator layers with no sustainLESSON 7Ensemble stringsStringsSynth strings are many players made of few: a pulse whose width keeps moving, a second layer a few cents away, a soft attack and release, and a chorus that spreads them into an ensemble.
141 PWM layersLESSON 8Your own soundChecklistEvery sound above took the same road: a start, a source, a filter, envelopes, movement, the effects and the panel.
