Envelopes
Shape over time
AMPENV, ENV2 and ENV3: seven segments, levels and loudness, the time scale, Natural and User, loops, envelope control and Impact.
An envelope draws a shape over each note: how the loudness rises, settles and dies away (the AMPENV), or how a filter, a pitch or a level moves with it (ENV2 and ENV3). Each VAST layer has all three.
Eight lessons, from the seven segments to Impact: what a level means to the ear, the K2700's scale of times, the sample's own envelope against your own, envelopes that loop, and the rows that speed them up by key, velocity or a slider.
From the seven segments to Impact.
Each lesson animates envelopes taken from the factory programs: watch the note on the scope, drag the points, move the controls and hear each note follow its envelope.
An envelope is seven segments, each a time and the level it reaches: three to attack, one to decay to the sustain, held while the key is down, and three to release once the key is let go.

sustains at a median of 74 %, -9.0 dBLESSON 3The time scaleTimeEach segment's time comes from a scale of 256 steps from 0 to 60 s: fine steps for short times, coarse ones for long times.

ENV2 in 2491 layers, ENV3 in 912LESSON 6LoopsLoopAfter the decay an envelope can go back and run again: forward from Att1, Att2 or Att3, or back and forth, a number of times or for as long as the key is held.

Slider 3 on 6562 attacksLESSON 8ImpactPunchImpact raises or lowers the first 20 milliseconds of each note, up to 24 dB either way: punch for basses, drums and plucked sounds without touching the rest of the envelope.
