Effects

The room and the motion

How a program's effects are built: the insert chain and the aux sends, a layer's own effects, reverbs, delays, chorus, flanger and phaser, tremolo and auto-pan, EQ, enhancer and compressor, the factory's chains, and editing a chain.

A program's sound goes through its insert chain, a row of effects, and two sends feed the aux chains, most often a reverb. Each effect has a shape you can see: a reverb's decay, a delay's echoes, a chorus's motion, a compressor's curve.

Nine lessons: insert and aux, a layer's own effects, reverbs, delays, chorus, flanger and phaser, tremolo and auto-pan, EQ, enhancer and compressor, the factory's chains, and editing a chain in the Chain Editor. Each plays a factory program's own effects on a phrase you choose.
