Delays
DlyTap Delay · Feedback · Tempo · HF DampingA delay plays the sound again later: once for a slap, again and again with feedback. The K2700's delays count in beats of the tempo, so the echoes stay in time: 0.5 beats an eighth note, 1 beat a quarter. Each echo can be darker than the last, and the two sides can repeat at different times.
SEE IT MOVE
Computed in your browser with KINSPIRATION's effects, sample by sample, with the values the program's own controllers give its chains. The phrase going in is a simple stand-in for the program's layers.
WHAT TO KNOW
THE TIME
Tap and loop times are in beats of the tempo, the System's 120 BPM unless the chain names its own: at 120 BPM a beat is 500 ms. A time too long for the delay's memory is halved.
FEEDBACK
Feedback sends each echo back in: 20 % gives two or three repeats, 50 % a long trail. HF Damping takes the highs from every pass.
USE IT FOR
Width (a slap of 10 to 40 ms), rhythm (taps on the beat or dotted), space (a long, dark trail under a pad).
WATCH OUT
Echoes on the beat hide under the next notes: a dotted time (0.75 beats) or a time per side sets them apart. Keep the delay's wet low on busy parts.
IN THE FACTORY PROGRAMS
604 programs play a delay switched in: St Chorus+Delay (its delay) in 362, 4-Tap Delay BPM in 193, Chorus+Delay (its delay) in 32. The commonest time is 1 beat.
