WHAT TO KNOW
INPUTS
a: the lesser source; b: the main one, or ON for a fixed 0.5 offset.
OUTPUT RANGE
-0.75..+0.75
USE IT FOR
A scaled and offset key or controller value. The factory's main use: KeyNum and ON (KeyNum / 4 + 0.5, from 0.5 at the lowest key to 0.75 at the highest, 0.62 at C4) as LFO1's rate control in 389 layers, so the vibrato gets faster toward the treble.
WATCH OUT
It never reaches full scale: the output stays within ±0.75, and with ON as b between 0.25 and 0.75. For a full-range mix use (a+b)/2 or a+b.
IN THE FACTORY PROGRAMS
In 435 FUN slots of the factory programs: FUN1 428, FUN2 6, GFUN4 1. GFUN2 and GFUN4 are the program's global FUNs. 1 of these slots have both inputs OFF, unused slots that keep this equation: its real uses are 434.
