Sample B on A
sample and hold= when a rises above 0.5, the output takes b's value and keeps it until a's next riseSample and hold: each time a turns TRUE (rises above +0.5), b's value at that moment is caught and held until the next time.
SEE IT MOVE
Computed in your browser with KINSPIRATION's FUN engine, step by step: this FUN keeps a state, so its output depends on what came before.
WHAT TO KNOW
INPUTS
a: the clock or event (a square LFO, a tempo clock, Note St, ON); b: the value to catch.
OUTPUT RANGE
b's range (0 until the first sample)
USE IT FOR
Classic sample-and-hold: a = a square LFO or a clock such as A Clk2, b = a fast LFO or a random source; freezing a value at note start (a = Note St or ON): the factory's Note St and SoftPd (298 slots) keep each note's soft-pedal state for its whole life, ON and RandV1 (217) a random value per note.
WATCH OUT
It catches b only as a rises above 0.5: while a stays high the output keeps that first value, and a must fall and rise again to catch a new one. ON as a counts as one rise, at the start of the note.
IN THE FACTORY PROGRAMS
In 701 FUN slots of the factory programs: FUN1 451, FUN2 111, FUN3 98, FUN4 24, GFUN4 9, GFUN2 8. GFUN2 and GFUN4 are the program's global FUNs. 4 of these slots have both inputs OFF, unused slots that keep this equation: its real uses are 697.
