WHAT TO KNOW
THE FIELD
Trigger, on the ASR page: ON, OFF, or any control source. A source counts as on above half its range; the ASR starts as it crosses.
RANGE
ON on a layer's ASR1 or ASR2: on from the key down until the key is let go. Rel State: on from the key's release, a release-triggered swell or dive.
USE IT FOR
ON for anything that belongs to each note; pressure or the wheel to bring an effect in when you ask for it; Rel State for a fall-off or a swell after the key is up.
WATCH OUT
A controller already past halfway when the note starts triggers nothing new: the ASR starts on the crossing. A Hold ASR on a controller lets go when the controller drops below half.
IN THE FACTORY PROGRAMS
1245 of the factory's 1566 ASRs start with every note (ON); the others wait for a control: pressure, the mod wheel, a pedal, a MIDI controller, or the key's release.
