warp4(a,b)
recursions= b, its sign turned over each time b changes by more than a between two evaluations (20 ms)Period Inverter: b is compared with its previous value and its sign flips whenever the jump exceeds a.
SEE IT MOVE
Computed in your browser with KINSPIRATION's FUN engine, step by step: this FUN keeps a state, so its output depends on what came before.
WHAT TO KNOW
INPUTS
a: the jump threshold (ON for signals that wrap, OFF to flip at every change); b: the signal, often a wrapping FUN.
OUTPUT RANGE
-1..+1
USE IT FOR
Removing the jump from a signal that wraps from +1 to -1 (a recursive FUN or warp8, read with a = ON) without changing its shape much; with a = OFF a sign that flips at every evaluation while b moves, a buzz.
WATCH OUT
It is worked out every 20 ms: a threshold below the signal's normal movement flips the sign at every step, a buzz. Set a above the normal movement and below the jumps.
IN THE FACTORY PROGRAMS
No factory program uses it: one of the K2700's hidden tools.
HOW TO ON YOUR K2700 · 2046 Editor Template
The factory does not route warp4(a,b) to a sound on its own: set one up on 2046 Editor Template and hear it on the pitch.
In Program mode choose 2046 Editor Template, a plain one-layer program to build on (KEYPAD, 2046, ENTER).

Press EDIT, then MORE and DSP MOD. On the Pitch row set Source 1 to FUN2 and its Depth to 1200 ct: FUN2's result, −1 to +1, now bends the pitch up to an octave either way.

MORE, then LFO+. First move to LFO1's Shape and turn it to Rise Saw. On the FUN2 row set Input a to 0.50 and Input b to LFO1.

Move to Function and turn the Alpha Wheel to warp4(a,b).

Hold a note: LFO1, now a rising saw, jumps from +1 to −1 at the end of each cycle; warp4 turns its sign over at each jump, so the pitch goes up and down like a triangle, at half the saw's rate.
Press EXIT and answer NO to leave the factory program as it was, or SAVE to keep your version on a USER ID.
