Four blocks to a layer

Blocks1, 2, 3 or 4 blocks

Every function takes 1, 2, 3 or 4 blocks, and a layer has four. The ALG splits them into places: four of one block, a 2 and two 1s, two 2s, a 1 and a 3, or one place of all four. A function fits only a place of its size: a 2-pole filter needs two blocks, a 4-pole filter all four.

WHAT TO KNOW

ONE BLOCK

1-pole LOPASS and HIPASS, SHAPER, DIST, WRAP, GAIN, TREBLE, the simple oscillators (SINE, SAW, SQUARE, TRI, NOISE) and the mixers.

TWO, THREE, FOUR

Two: the 2-pole filters, PARA MID, the shelves. Three: PARAMETRIC EQ, STEEP RESONANT BASS. Four: the 4-pole filters, TWIN PEAKS, SUPER and TRIPLE SAW, the sync oscillators.

USE IT FOR

Choosing the ALG from the functions you want: write down their sizes in signal order and find the layout that matches.

WATCH OUT

Four blocks at most: more stages need a second layer joined in a cascade.

IN THE FACTORY PROGRAMS

The 106 ALGs come in 8 layouts of four blocks; by the factory's layers the commonest is [2][1][1], 3,305 layers.

HOW TO ON YOUR K2700 · 675 Lucid Brass

Lucid Brass's fourth layer uses four places of one block. Turn the ALG and watch the places change size.

  1. In Program mode choose 675 Lucid Brass (KEYPAD, 675, ENTER).

Program mode with 675 Lucid Brass
  2. Press EDIT, go to layer 4 with CHANNEL/LAYER ▲, then MORE and ALG: Algorithm 2, four places of one block: HIPASS, TREBLE, DIST and LOPASS.

  3. With the cursor on Algorithm turn the Alpha Wheel one step down, to 1: F1 and F2 join into one place of two blocks, the 1-block HIPASS and TREBLE cannot stay there, and its box shows the 2-block function it now holds; DIST and LOPASS stay in F3 and F4.

  4. Press EXIT and answer NO to leave the factory program as it was, or SAVE to keep your version on a USER ID.
