Keymaps and tuning
KEYMAP pageKeymap · Transpose · Key Tracking · Coarse · FineThe KEYMAP page chooses the samples a layer plays and how the keys move them. Transpose shifts the whole layer in semitones, Key Tracking sets how far each key moves the pitch (100 cents a key, or 0 for the same pitch on every key), Stereo adds a second keymap for the right side. The PITCH row on DSP CTL adds Coarse and Fine.

The screens are the K2700's pages for the factory program named; the maps are drawn from its layers and its PARAMS rows. Nothing plays here: open the program on your K2700 and listen as you go.
WHAT TO KNOW
TRANSPOSE
Transpose moves the layer in semitones and reads the keymap at the moved key: two layers a fifth or an octave apart make a chord or an octave on every key.
KEY TRACKING
100 ct/key plays a semitone a key. 0 gives every key the same pitch, for drums, noises and effects; 50 a quarter tone a key, a scale squeezed by half, around C4.
DETUNE
The PITCH row's Fine, in cents, detunes a layer against another: a few cents apart they beat and thicken, as two players do.
WATCH OUT
Timbre Shift picks other samples at the same pitch: higher sounds smaller, lower larger. Far from the sample's own key a sample sounds unnatural, sped up or slowed down.
IN THE FACTORY PROGRAMS
3,026 factory layers are transposed, 1,946 play stereo keymaps, 962 are detuned by a Fine, 751 shift their timbre; 838 play every key at the same pitch.

HOW TO ON YOUR K2700 · 97 Spaced Out Bach
Spaced Out Bach stacks one electric piano three times: as played, a fifth up, and an octave and a fifth up.
In Program mode choose 97 Spaced Out Bach (KEYPAD, 97, ENTER).

Press EDIT, then MORE and KEYMAP. Layer 1 plays keymap 840, RM Electra Pno, at Transpose 0 ST, Key Tracking 100 ct/key: a semitone a key.

Press CHANNEL/LAYER ▲, layer 2: Transpose 7 ST, a fifth above.

Layer 3: Transpose 19 ST, an octave and a fifth. Every C you play sounds C, G and the G above.

Turn layer 3's Transpose to 24 ST: two octaves up instead, a high C over the fifth.

Key Tracking at 0 ct/key plays every key at the same pitch, as drums and noises do. To detune a layer, the PITCH row on DSP CTL adds a Coarse in semitones and a Fine in cents.
