Oscillators
OscillatorsSINE · SAW · SQUARE · PWM · SUPER SAWThe oscillators make their own wave at the note's pitch: a SINE (one partial), a SAW (all of them), a SQUARE (the odd ones), a PWM whose width moves the partials, a SHAPED SAW that turns from saw to sine, a SUPER SAW of two detuned saws, NOISE, and the FM operators that bend a sine with what comes in.

WHAT TO KNOW
THE SPECTRA
SINE: the fundamental alone. SAW: every harmonic, each 6 dB down an octave. SQUARE: the odd ones. TRI: the odd ones, falling faster.
SHAPE AND WIDTH
PWM's width (in %, 50 a square) and SHAPED SAW's shape (0 a saw, 127 a sine) change the spectrum with one row, so a control can sweep them.
FM
An FM OPERATOR is a sine whose phase the input pushes: FM OP Inp sets how far, from a hint of brightness to a metallic clang.
WATCH OUT
Some Pads lower an oscillator's output by default (PWM's width page, LPNOIZ): compare levels with the Pads where the factory leaves them.
IN THE FACTORY PROGRAMS
The factory's oscillators: SAW in 272 layers, FM OPERATOR in 269, SINE in 228, PWM in 141 (median width 50 %), SUPER SAW in 43 (median detune 6 cents).

HOW TO ON YOUR K2700 · 1037 '80s Movie Music
'80s Movie Music is a SUPER SAW: two detuned saws in one function.
In Program mode choose 1037 '80s Movie Music (KEYPAD, 1037, ENTER).

Press EDIT, then MORE and ALG: Algorithm 5, one place of four blocks holding the SUPER SAW.

MORE, then DSP CTL. The Detune row is 5 ct: how far the two saws sit above and below the key.

Turn the Alpha Wheel up, here to 15 ct: the beating quickens, a wider, more chorused sound.
