Resonance and Drive
FiltersLP Res · Drive · the MogueThe 2-pole and 4-pole filters have a resonance: dB of boost (or cut) right at the cutoff. Negative values round the corner off, 0 dB is plain, +12 to +24 dB is the sharp, singing peak of a synth filter. Drive, on the 2-pole's resonance page, pushes the signal into the filter harder, and its output saturates.

WHAT TO KNOW
THE PEAK
LP Res is the level at the cutoff: −6 dB is two plain 1-pole stages, +12 dB a clear peak, +24 dB close to ringing.
DRIVE
0 to 3 steps of 6 dB into the 2POLE LOWPASS or HIPASS; the filter's output saturates softly, and its level is given back.
THE MOGUE
4POLE MOGUE LP is a transistor ladder: 24 dB an octave, its resonance −6 to +12 dB, the loudest settings close to self-oscillation.
WATCH OUT
A strong peak on a loud partial clips: lower the input with the Pad, or the resonance, when a sweep turns harsh.
IN THE FACTORY PROGRAMS
Of 4,564 2POLE LOWPASS settings, 2,996 have no resonance, 843 a rounded corner and 120 a peak of 12 dB or more; the 4POLE MOGUE LP plays 405 layers.

HOW TO ON YOUR K2700 · 709 AcidJazzFlute
AcidJazzFlute's third layer gives its 2POLE LOWPASS a resonant peak. Find it, then take it down.
In Program mode choose 709 AcidJazzFlute (KEYPAD, 709, ENTER).

Press EDIT, go to layer 3 with CHANNEL/LAYER ▲, then MORE and DSP CTL. The LP Res row is 16.0 dB: the boost at the cutoff, LP Frq on the row above.

Turn the Alpha Wheel down, here to 6.0 dB: the peak shrinks; below 0 dB the filter's corner rounds off.
