Rate control

RateMnRate → MxRate by RateCt

RateCt lets any control source move the rate: at its minimum the LFO runs at MnRate, at its maximum at MxRate. A mod wheel that speeds the vibrato up, a key that makes high notes wobble faster, an ASR that quickens the vibrato as it fades in.

WHAT TO KNOW

THE FIELDS

MnRate, MxRate and RateCt, on the LFO page. RateCt OFF keeps the LFO at MnRate; ON keeps it at MxRate.

RANGE

In KOACH the rate moves in a straight line from MnRate to MxRate. MxRate may be lower than MnRate: the control then slows the LFO down. A bipolar control below 0 pulls the rate under MnRate, never below 0 Hz.

USE IT FOR

A rotary or chorus speed on a wheel or a knob; a vibrato that quickens with pressure; a faster vibrato toward the treble through a FUN on the key number.

WATCH OUT

A switch as RateCt jumps between the two rates: for a smooth speed change put a lag between them, a lowpass FUN reading the switch.

IN THE FACTORY PROGRAMS

2772 of the 4059 LFOs in use have a rate control; in 95 of them MxRate is below MnRate, so the control slows the LFO down.

HOW TO ON YOUR K2700 · 106 AC Clav Tube

AC Clav Tube's vibrato speeds up with the mod wheel: RateCt MWheel, from MnRate to MxRate.

  1. In Program mode choose 106 AC Clav Tube (KEYPAD, 106, ENTER).

  2. Press EDIT, then MORE and LFO+. LFO1 runs from 4.50 Hz (MnRate) to 5.50 Hz (MxRate) as MWheel, its RateCt, goes from 0 to the top.

  3. Push the mod wheel up and down while you play: the vibrato quickens. Move the cursor to MxRate and raise it, here to 7.50 Hz: the wheel now reaches further.

  4. On DSP MOD the Pitch row's Source 2 is LFO1, its depth from 0 ct to 24 ct as Press+MW rises.

  5. Press EXIT and answer NO to leave the factory program as it was, or SAVE to keep your version on a USER ID.
